Reshuffle announced among army top brass in the Guangzhou regional command
Latest changes among dozens of fresh appointments in the PLA around China which analysts suggest come in the wake of the government’s sweeping crackdown on graft in the military
More changes have been announced as part of the huge reshuffle of personnel in China’s military.
The latest appointments have been made in the Guangzhou Military Command, the state-run Guangzhou Daily said.
Analysts have suggested that the dozens of changes in the PLA in recent weeks come in the wake of President Xi Jinping’s massive crackdown on corruption in the military.
The former vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xu Caihou, was stripped of his post last year after it was announced that he was under investigation for alleged graft.
Lieutenant General Jia Xiaowei, former chief of staff in the Guangzhou command, has been promoted to become the region’s deputy commander,
Major General Liu Xiaowu will take over Jia’s former position, the report said.
The Guangzhou Military Command oversees five provinces, Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei and Hainan, plus the Guangxi region.
