A student at a local school contracted the virus after his classmate tested positive on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Ministry of Education on Saturday. Close contacts of both pupils have been placed under quarantine.
Singapore reported 22 new cases of locally-transmitted infections on Saturday, of which eight are currently untraceable, the government said in a separate statement.
There were seven imported cases that were already put into isolation. That compares with 30 new community cases found on Friday, and eight unlinked infections.
Previous cases this month involving schoolchildren included clusters that originated at private learning centres. Students from 30 schools have been infected in the past four weeks, The Straits Times reported on Friday.
