A search and rescue mission has been scrambled to locate a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Hawk 108 fighter jet, which disappeared in the skies over the state of Pahang.
The fighter jet had departed from the Kuantan air force base at 11am local time before losing contact at 11.30am.
It is believed to have disappeared north of Kuantan near the Pahang-Terengganu border.
The RMAF said a search and rescue operation is underway.

The Hawk 108 two-seater training jet, is a predecessor to the Hawk 208 fighter jet, which was used in Lahad Datu during Ops Daulat in 2013.
