As the final season of Game of Thrones prepares to start on HBO on April 14, we’ve identified the best spots from iconic scenes in previous seasons.

The Iron Throne

The Croatian city of Dubrovnik is a must for any Game of Thrones fan – mainly because it is the chosen film location for King’s Landing. The prestigious royal capital of Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms houses the Red Keep castle – which holds the coveted Iron Throne. Everything in Game of Thrones revolves around this seat and who gets to sit on it.

The real-life Red Keep, Fort Lovrijenac, is instantly recognisable. Located west of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, outside the town’s fortified walls, the spectacular fortress sits regally on the edge of a 37-metre high cliff.

The 25-hectare Trsteno Arboretum in Dubrovnik doubles as the gardens of King’s Landing, where our favourite characters have plotted their way to power or their untimely demise. In reality, the Trsteno Arboretum is one of the city’s most celebrated attractions with its sprawling, whimsical flora. It is also one of the oldest Arboretums in the world.
