When size matters: will Samsung’s ‘super-ultrawide’ CRG9 gaming monitor measure up?

It’s like two regular monitors side by side, costs US$1,500 and has all-important enhanced resolution, writes Antonio Villas-Boas
Samsung, the South Korean consumer electronic company, released its new “super-ultrawide” US$1,500 CRG9 gaming monitor last Thursday for pre-orders.
I am afraid it will make anyone who bought the first CHG90 model from 2017 regret their purchase.
Curved screens can easily be perceived as a gimmick, but it's pretty much a requisite with a monitor as wide as the CRG9
The new CRG9 monitor comes in the same size and outrageously wide 32:9 aspect ratio – the equivalent of two regular 16:9 computer monitors put together.
There are a few upgrades worth mentioning – the biggest of which is the higher 1440p resolution compared with the original model’s 1080p resolution.
For a luxury item such as a super-ultrawide monitor, that increase in resolution makes all the difference.
Check out what the new CRG9 monitor is like.
The sheer size of the CRG9 monitor is something to behold

The CRG9 measures 49 inches diagonally, with an aspect ratio of 32:9 – it's as if you had two regular, 27-inch monitors stuck together, but without the bezels down the middle of the screen.
Still, it looks and feels wider than two regular monitors stuck together.
