  • Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the 2015 model will be updated with ‘an upgraded processor’, but what else could we see?

Apple’s music player, the iPod, is coming back in 2019.

That’s according to Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most reliable Apple analysts in the world.

Kuo released a new research note for investors last weekend, which was obtained by the Apple news website 9to5Mac.

His report mentioned new iPhones, iPads and Mac computers, as well as updates about AirPods and the Apple Watch, but it also had one particularly interesting prediction: Apple would release a new iPod Touch this year.

Kuo said the new iPod Touch will feature “an upgraded processor”, but we have no other details.

Still, check out what we're expecting.

Apple's last iPod Touch, the sixth-generation model – which can play music, films, television shows, audiobooks and podcasts – came out in June 2015 and had an identical design to the previous fifth-generation model, released in 2012.

In other words, Apple's iPod Touch has looked the same for about seven years.
