The series is adapted from Canadian author Rachel Reid’s six-book novel series named Game Changers, and written and directed by Jacob Tierney. Starring Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams as rival ice hockey stars, the steamy show follows the two players as they battle their obvious attraction towards one another. It has already been renewed for a second season.

Rachel Reid, whose real name is Rachelle Goguen, was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada. Growing up, her passion for ice hockey ran deep but due to the lack of girls’ hockey leagues, she took power-skating lessons and joined any boys’ camp that would accept her. “I would do just about anything that allowed me to put on hockey gear and hold a stick,” Reid said in an interview with the Toronto Star.

While Reid never had a professional ice hockey career, she did work at a Canadian paper called The Coast and began writing Game Changers, the first book in the series, on her iPad to pass the time while putting her two sons to sleep. She submitted the book to publishers, keeping this a secret from even her husband, and its publication in 2018 coincided with the trend of ice hockey romance novels.
