Yen shared with Bandwagon Asia that she expressed a desire to perform from a young age – and has the talent to match. At the age of nine, she got one of her first rushes from performing when she sang for 2,000 guests at her aunt’s wedding. In the interview, she revealed that she realised she’s passionate about singing and being on stage thanks to that early experience.

Following the warm reception of her first single “IDK”, Yen showed she’s more than just a pretty face riding on the success of her famous parents. The young and passionate singer-songwriter poured herself into the album, immersing herself in the creative process of all eight tracks, four of which are in English.

Coinciding with the album launch, Yen performed her second single TBH live for the first time at Majulah Music Night in Singapore on July 30. She captivated the audience with her undeniable stage presence as she performed with a group of backup dancers.

Yen has curated an image to match her upbeat K-pop-style music, capturing a young generation of music lovers. For her Majulah Music Night performance, she showed off her chops in a hot pink long-sleeve cropped top and denim shorts paired with thigh-high boots. Wearing natural make-up with flowing long locks, she channelled the same trending Y2K aesthetics and the upbeat energy she displayed in her singles’ music videos.

While she’s had plenty of opportunities throughout her childhood and teenage years to glam up for events like film premieres with her celebrity parents, her Instagram posts reveal her off-duty style to be fun and youthful. She’s typically seen in cropped tops and mini skirts, a stark contrast to the ultra-feminine ruffled evening gowns she dons for magazines.

That said, Yen’s also not afraid to embrace a good trend. She recently channelled her inner Barbie with an all-pink Versace pantsuit for her media debut in Singapore. She also walked the red carpet with her fashionable family in a bright pink minidress at a recent John Wick premiere.
