It’s an unlucky week for celebrity romance as two superstar couples, Fan Bingbing and Li Chen, and Korea’s much-loved Song-Song couple, announced the end of their relationships
The break-up of Chinese celebrity couple Fan Bingbing and her fiancé Li Chen, which followed closely on the heels of the split between Korean drama stars Song Hye-kyo and Soong Joong-ki, seared through the internet with more than two million reactions and comments from netizens.
“Unbelievable, I’m afraid the entertainment industry is about to explode ”, said @nanzainanfangzp.
“I felt you broke up way earlier,” said another.
“Four years’ relationship ended overnight. Is that real or there are hidden stories”, many doubted.
“Sister, be happy, you will always have us,” commented a large group of Fan’s fans.
The Fan-Li break-up was announced at 8.24pm on June 27 with a post from Fan on social media platform Weibo: “We all experience various farewells in our lives. Love and care from our time together have become eternal power. Thank you for all your sacrifice, support and love in the past, and in the future. We are not us any more, but we are always who we are.”
Seconds later, Li reposted Fan’s declaration, commenting: “From friends to lovers and back to friends again, the form of love changes, but the purest feelings between us will not change. We are not us any more, but we are always who we are.”
Li later shut down the comments function under his post.
