BTS, the internationally renowned K-pop boy band, has seen its new single surpass 100 million views on the video-sharing website YouTube at a world-record pace.
The music video for Boy With Luv, the main track on the seven-member’s latest album, “Map of the Soul: Persona”, was released at 6pm last Friday and reached 100 million views at about 7.37am on Sunday, according to the band's management agency, Big Hit Entertainment.
BTS achieved the milestone 37 hours and 37 minutes after the video was first uploaded to YouTube.
The previous record has been set by K-pop girl group BLACKPINK’s Kill This Love, which hit 100 million views 62 hours from its release on April 5.
Boy With Luv became the 18th video from BTS to pass the 100 million threshold.
The release of the album came before the group’s appearance on the United States television variety show, Saturday Night Live, on Saturday, hosted by Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone.
