Did a video of a ‘shopaholic’ influencer and personal shopper get her blocked by Instagram?

Dubai fashion blogger Nicole Majdalany, seen in a luxury mall walking in front of an attendant carrying a mountain of shopping bags, was locked out for three days

Women love to shop. We all know that. We love it so much that we often get blinded by the red flags of sales so much that we don’t even find our bearings – let alone acknowledge another person’s presence within a 10-centimetre (four-inch) radius.

The character Veronica Lodge in Archies Comics’ comic series, Archie, and teen-drama television series, Riverdale, is a stark example of this phenomenon.

She has always got a man or attendant trailing behind her, hidden amid a mountain of shopping bags.

Yet if that happened for real, many eyebrows would shoot upwards and trolling would roll in: which is what happened in glitzy Dubai, to a relatively well-known fashion blogger, Nicole Majdalany.

However, the excessive shopaholic behaviour of Majdalany – known by Insta handle Nicole_Ontrend – led to her being blocked from social media for a precious few hours when Instagram shut her out from using her account.

She suggests that it could have been because of a video she posted showing an attendant trailing behind her as she strolls in one of Dubai’s popular shopping destinations, the Mall of the Emirates.

The man, just as in the comic book series, is almost completely behind an enormous pile of shopping bags, yet falling in stride behind Majdalany.

The stylist influencer posted the video three days before New Year’s Eve with the caption – “hurry up then #stopcomplaining”.

A week later, her account was disabled on a Saturday at midday.
