Who would ever forget the first Chinese model to walk Victoria’s Secret runway? But she is not the only success story, read more to meet the world’s top Chinese models.
Liu Wen
Here is a lady of superlatives. She is the only Chinese supermodel to make it to the Forbes world’s highest-paid model list in 2014, with an estimated US$7 million in yearly earnings. She is the first Asian model to be the face of Estee Lauder, the first Asian model to walk Victoria’s Secret runway in 2009, and the first Chinese model on the cover of American Vogue. And another fun fact, she was the first to wear the Apple Watch when she graced the cover of China’s Vogue. Words won’t be enough to list down what campaigns or shows Liu Wen has been on, but you will see it all on her Instagram.
Fei Fei Sun
If you were the first solo Asian model to ever grace Vogue (Italy, 2013), how would you feel? Sure, you could be overwhelmed, but then again, one of your first walks was for Karl Lagerfeld and you were also the first Asian face for Valentino. Least to say, Fei Fei Sun is a fashion staple. She has graced 40 magazine covers and walked 399 shows, the latest was just last January for the Valentino haute couture spring 2020 show.
Du Juan
Keeping herself away from social media, Du Juan is the first Asian model to grace Vogue (France) in 2005 along with model Gemma Ward. She started her career walking for Diane Von Furstenberg in the same year, until 2013 and then she takes a break from the fashion world. But, hold your breath, because she didn’t exactly disappear from the limelight, she just went behind the big screen. She starred in American Dreams in China (2013) and has appeared in nine other movies and two shorts since then. She even has her own IMDB page to boot. And being away from the modelling world probably made her miss it. She came back to close the Valentino fall couture 2019 Beijing show.
