The K-pop star is a variety show favourite, dyes her hair various colours and doesn’t seem to care what others think of her – but what else is there to know?

Twice's lead rapper and vocalist Dahyun turns 22 on May 28 and we’re celebrating the artist known for her bright smile and quirky personality. Here are five things to know about the K-pop star.

She was chosen by JYP because of her charm

In reality show competition Sixteen, Dahyun was picked as the third member to debut in Twice. While pointing out Dahyun had a lot to improve on, JYP Entertainment CEO Park Jin-young said: “The reason why I picked you is because you really catch the audience’s attention. On stage and even between the members and interviews, you have poise and charisma. That is something that one cannot gain through training.”

Even before debuting, a video of Dahyun went viral because of her eagle dance, which she also performed on the show.

Dahyun always shocks everyone on variety shows

In an episode of Weekly Idol, other members, while lying on their stomach, couldn’t arch their backs far enough for their head to touch their toes – but Dahyun managed to put her head in between her feet!

When Twice was a guest on Knowing Bros, Dahyun and Got7’s Park Jin-young took part in the segment “Ask Us Anything”. When Park, who was the CEO, was having difficulty playing the game, Dahyun addressed him casually and raised her voice at him. Viewers were amused and praised Park for keeping his cool.
