Based on BBC One’s Doctor Foster, the JTBC drama smashed viewing records, overtaking Sky Castle to become Korea’s highest-rated TV show ever – but now the dust has settled we’ve got some questions that need answering

With its outstanding performances, stunning cinematography and well-written screenplay, there’s no question why The World of the Married is the highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history. Based on the BBC One series Doctor Foster, the drama has tugged at viewers’ hearts and emotions for its realistic depictions of marriage, friendships, and the everyday way people relate to each other.

The story follows family medical doctor Ji Sun-woo (Kim Hee-ae), who lives in a gorgeous house located in the small town of Gosan, with her son Joon-young and aspiring director husband Lee Tae-oh (Park Hae-Joon). The story picked up at an incredibly heart-racing pace when Sun-woo found out about her husband’s relationship with Yeo Da-kyung (Han So-hee), the daughter of Tae-oh’s potential investor, and continued to deliver thrilling scenes that made its audience hold on for dear life.

As the drama has ended, we’ve got some questions about potential plot holes we’re dying to have answered. Disclaimer: spoilers ahead!

If Sun-woo and Tae-oh shared a bank account, how come she did not know about the loans and debt?

In episode three, Sun-woo finds out that her husband has been running their account dry – all to take care of his lover. Even though Tae-oh hid the statements sent to their home, in today’s technologically driven society, wouldn’t the bank also send her statements via email, or let her know what her husband was doing through phone calls, since she is still the primary account holder?

How did Da-kyung’s mother not know her daughter was pregnant?

The signs were all clear: Da-kyung looked like she gained weight and she was always feeling nauseous. Although she was keen on getting her excuses and explanations out there, wouldn’t her mother (since she had gone through the same experience) know straight away that she had a bun in the oven?
