5 things to know about Korean star Song Joong-ki’s upcoming film, Space Sweepers

The star of Descendants of the Sun and Arthdal Chronicles is back in action with a new science fiction movie in which he plays a down and out pilot forced to work in his socks
K-drama actor Song Joong-Ki, star of Descendants of the Sun and Arthdal Chronicles, is back in action in the new sci-fi film Space Sweepers. While the film has no release date yet, here’s what we know about this upcoming blockbuster.
1. Events take place in 2092
In the year 2092, space is full of floating debris such as abandoned ships and rusty satellites. The Victory spaceship collects this valuable junk and competes with similar ships in exchange for money. One day the ship’s crew discover a robot named Dorothy – a weapon of mass destruction. Their lives are then turned upside down because of their involvement in a high-stakes business deal.
2. His character is a poor space pilot
Song Joong-ki plays the role of a poor space pilot named Tae Ho. While he has a confident personality, he's very poor. He can’t even afford shoes so he drives the ship wearing socks filled with holes.
3. A star-studded cast
The film has a star-studded cast. Victory’s captain Jang Sun-jang will be played by veteran actress Kim Tae-ri. K-drama fans may recognise her from a past performance in Mr. Sunshine.
Jin Seon-kyu plays the engineer Tiger Park who uses his superior strength to thrust the ship’s core lever. Prior to the film, the actor worked in movies such as Extreme Job and The Outlaws.
