While dance stars J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook plan some of the band’s routines, these 5 international star choreographers are tasked with cooking up pulse-firing moves even RM and Jin can ace onstage, night after night

It’s a running joke among the fans who call themselves the BTS Army that RM and Jin aren’t great dancers – but anyone who has watched a music video or live performance by the K-pop supergroup can attest that none of the guys are a slouch when it comes to moving and grooving.

Synchronised, intricate, precise and dynamic, the septet’s dancing is integral to their charm, part of the unique way they tell the story behind every song. J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook, the certified hoofers in the team, have even tried their hand at coming up with some of BTS’ onstage routines. J-Hope, in particular, is the obvious leader in getting everyone’s dancing on point during rehearsals.

But with the value they put on teamwork, BTS has also often called on this crop of international choreographers to put together their crowd-thrilling performances. In the process, these artists introduced a variety of influences into the group’s style and flavour of dancing – one that’s uniquely BTS.

No stranger to K-pop choreography, this Japanese dancer/choreographer is the visionary behind a number of BTS’ iconic dances. Their swagger in IDOL is no surprise, with the routine coming from the dance community’s own “Queen of Swag”.

Jimin has been a long-time fan of this Filipino-American artist (the appreciation seems mutual, too), and it shows in the fluid sensuality of his moves whenever he dances to the dreamy, electronic R&B hit Serendipity. Puspos’ sleek urban style is also showcased in BTS’ performance of Butterfly.
