Fisherman sandals (not to be confused with gladiator shoes) are one of the season’s hottest new trends in footwear, with celebrities like Hailey Bieber sporting them on the streets

Luxury brands like Prada and Gucci are doing them in rubber for a comfy feel, while Marni’s smooth leather version is sleek and timeless, and Thom Browne uses an exaggerated platform sole for height

The classic fisherman sandal – a strappy design not to be confused with longer gladiator sandals, as it has an ankle buckle fastening – gets a chic update this season. Luxury brands such as Prada and Gucci have issued stylish renditions of summer’s comfiest shoes in sophisticated all-black. If the look is good enough for model and now fashion entrepreneur Hailey Bieber, it’s surely good enough for us ordinary mortals.
