STYLE Edit: Graff’s new Tribal high jewellery collection was inspired by an ancient folk tale – catch its touring exhibition in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Hong Kong this May
- A folk tale, The Girl Who Created The Stars, was the spark of inspiration behind the luxury brand’s strikingly sculptural new collection
- Its three parts are New Dawn, Night Moon and The Graff Gateway; don’t miss the necklace set with 418 carats of emeralds and 76 carats of diamonds
Imagine this: deep in the heart of the darkened desert, the sky is pitch black. The world is illuminated only by the light of a roaring fire. A girl dances around the fire and reaches into the flames to grasp a handful of flaming embers. She hurls them into the air and they travel up and away, becoming the stars that illuminate the night sky.
Each piece in the collection is striking and sculptural, transforming the elements of the story into abstract motifs. The collection is structured into three parts: New Dawn, Night Moon and The Graff Gateway.
New Dawn is intended to symbolise the sun – the greatest star – breaking over the horizon. An eternal emblem of life and energy, the sun is embodied in the collection in a glamorous necklace featuring 65 carats of yellow and white diamonds.
Night Moon meanwhile reflects the mystical energy of the moon, with crescent-shaped clusters of diamonds echoing the shape of the earth’s natural satellite.
