Fashion design, poetry, equestrian and badminton are among Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana’s many talents

Thai Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana is a woman of many talents. She’s a royal, but that’s only one aspect of her personality. She has multiple creative and athletic pursuits, and as she’s told Tatler magazine: “I put all my efforts into achieving my goals”. Here are some things that you probably never guessed about the 32-year-old princess.

1. She’s the only daughter of the Thai King Vajiralongkorn and his former consort Sujarinee Vivacharawongse

 

The princess’s mother was the former consort and then the second wife of King Vajiralongkorn. They were married for two years before he divorced her, accusing her of adultery. Sujarinee then fled to Britain with her children – four sons and one daughter – but the king ordered the princess’s return, and she was brought back to Thailand. The princess’ mother and brothers have since moved to the United States.

2. She’s a fashion designer

 

She has her own fashion line, called Sirivannavari. The famed designer Pierre Balmain invited her to present her debut collection in 2007 at Paris Fashion Week. Since then, her regal designs have been internationally recognised, and they typically focus on flowing queues and elegant silhouettes. One of her most recent collections, “Horse, Helen and Henri”, is dreamy and romantic, inspired by one of her love poems. That brings us to our next point. …
