Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris has invited English artist David Hockney to take over its Frank Gehry-designed building for an exhibition that brings together more than 400 of his works, produced between 1955 and 2025. Titled “David Hockney 25” – it mainly focuses on the last quarter of a century of his career – the exhibition is the largest the artist has ever held, with works in media ranging from oil and acrylic painting, to digital devices like the iPhone and iPad. Until August 31.

Amy Sherald: American Sublime

The most comprehensive exhibition of art by African-American artist Amy Sherald opens at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art this month. Featuring almost 50 works – some of them made exclusively for the show – “Amy Sherald: American Sublime” showcases her iconic portraits of famous figures such as Michelle Obama, and of everyday Black Americans, offering a glimpse into modern life in the US. Until August 10.
