As seen in photos, the 53-year-old actor brought his son to the Critics Choice Association’s 7th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema and Television in Los Angeles on December 9. Walker was all-smiles as he stood beside his famous dad at the event.

The father-and-son duo rocked dapper looks on the red carpet too. While Taye wore a grey suit with a maroon T-shirt, complete with a beige hat, his son Walker went for a classic black suit with a white collared shirt.

Although Walker remains largely out of the public eye, he has been making more appearances lately. Just last month, he joined his mother Idina Menzel at the Wicked film premiere in LA where they looked chic as ever in matching black ‘fits.

Back in June, Menzel opened up about parenting in an episode of People in 10. “He’s great. He’s a teenager, but he still hugs me once in a while so I’ll take that,” she joked. “What surprises me is just how mercurial it is, one minute they want nothing to do with you, and the next minute they really show you how much they need you,” she noted. “You really have to be on your toes and be willing to get out of their way and out of your own way and not take things too personally. Know that they feel your love but they also need their space.”

Walker may live a private life, but his parents certainly don’t. His mum Idina Menzel is an American actress and singer who has been nicknamed the “Queen of Broadway” for her incredible stage presence. Although she is best known for her role as Elphaba in the theatre version of Wicked and then for playing Disney’s Elsa in Frozen and Frozen II, she has also starred in films including Uncut Gems, Cinderella and Disenchanted.

Meanwhile, Walker’s dad is none other than Taye Diggs, a fellow Broadway veteran and actor who’s also appeared in films such as Chicago, House on Haunted Hill and Rent. According to People magazine, Menzel and Diggs met on the 1996 theatre production of Rent and tied the knot in 2003. They reportedly called it quits in 2009, a few days after Walker was born, but ended on good terms.
