In a recent interview with Us Weekly, the Pitch Perfect star opened up about his wife “bearing the brunt of the parental responsibility” while he spends most of the day away, filming for The Righteous Gemstones season four. “I’m really proud of how she stepped up to the plate. She’s killing it,” he told the outlet, although he also admitted to feeling “dad guilt” over it.

In a separate interview with E! News, the Modern Family star mused about realising that his wife was seeing him in a new light as a father. “For a while, for several years, I would catch her just sort of staring at me from across the living room and I’m like, ‘She thinks she blew it. She thinks she chose way wrong.’ I think since she saw me as a dad, she’s like, ‘Whew, OK.’”
