New York City Mayor Eric Adams has just been charged with bribery, wire fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations.
An indictment unsealed on Thursday detailed allegations that the 64-year-old sought and accepted illegal campaign funds and more than US$100,000 in luxury travel benefits from Turkish businessmen, per the BBC.
Adams has denied all wrongdoing and in a statement from his official residence said: “I always knew that if I stood my ground for all of you, that I would be a target – and a target I became,” per Fox. “I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and my spirit.”
Adams has been the mayor of New York City since 2022. He has a 29-year-old son, Jordan Coleman, from his relationship with Chrisena Coleman, and is now dating a woman called Tracey Collins, per People. So far Coleman has remained silent on the matter.
