The former world No 1 announced he’s retiring after the Paris Olympics … and he first met his partner at the US Open, 19 years ago

British tennis star Andy Murray – two-time Wimbledon champion and No 1 player in the world in 2016 – is slated to step back from tournaments and the limelight after announcing in July that he’d be retiring after the Paris Olympics.
His wife Kim Sears, who’s been by Murray’s side every step of the way for the past decade – including at the men’s doubles match this summer for his final Wimbledon appearance – will spend much less time courtside cheering on her husband.

Sears and Murray married in 2015 and share four young children: Sophia, Edie, Teddy and Lola. Murray has revealed in interviews that he’s very much a homebody who enjoys spending time with his family in Leatherhead.

She and Murray reportedly met at a party during the US Open in 2005, when they were still teenagers.

The lovebirds dated quietly for a year before Murray made the relationship public in San Jose, California, when he headed courtside to kiss Sears after winning his first ATP title to become No 1 in the UK.

The two eventually got married in 2015 – a decade after they first met.

They run a hotel together

In 2013, the couple refurbished a Victorian mansion in Perthshire, Scotland, and reopened the property as a 15-bedroom five-star hotel. The Cromlix Hotel was renovated according to the couple’s preferences, including a chapel where the couple later tied the knot, per People.
