Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr is speaking out for the first time since filing a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs in February, per USA Today. In the lawsuit, Jones alleges Combs sexually harassed, drugged and threatened him while he travelled and lived with the artist between September 2022 and November 2023, writes NBC.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone published this week, the musician and producer – who worked on Combs’ 2023 album, The Love Album: Off the Grid – said that he feared for his safety and said Combs was a “monster”.

“I’m broke. I have no source of income right now. Every month I’m trying to figure out how the bills are going to get paid,” he said in the interview. “Here I am standing up for justice, for what I believe is right for my life, and I’m being punished for that. I’m blackballed, for sure.”

Per Rolling Stone, Combs’ lawyer dismissed the claims in a statement. “Mr Jones’s lawsuit is pure fiction – a shameless attempt to create media hype and extract a quick settlement. Mr Jones was not threatened, groomed, assaulted, or trafficked,” Erica Wolff said. “We look forward to proving – in a court of law – that all of Mr Jones’s claims are made-up and must be dismissed.”

The 38-year-old hails from Chicago’s West Side, and has strong roots in the region’s gospel community, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

“I grew up in the church,” he told Rolling Stone. “My family consists of pastors, singers, musicians, and carpenters.”
