  • Chad Michael Murray has been celebrating the fact that he’ll once again reprise his role in the Freaky Friday 2 sequel alongside Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis
  • The actor rose to fame for his parts on One Tree Hill and A Cinderella Story, and married his Chosen co-star Sarah Roemer – he’s now 42 and has 3 children with the actress

Chad Michael Murray is celebrating the news of his reprised role in the upcoming Freaky Friday sequel.

“Jake is back, baby”, he wrote in a shared Instagram post with Disney on the social media platform last week, referring to his character in the original film.

Not long after posting, he was seen reuniting with his former cast members from the 2003 family comedy, including the comeback queen herself, Lindsay Lohan, as seen in pics shared by Backgrid. Lohan and Murray played love interests in the original film, while Jamie Lee Curtis starred as Lohan’s mother, and will also reprise her role.

It seems Murray – now 42 – dropped off people’s radars after the early 2010s, having become a household name for his roles in films including A Cinderella Story and House of Wax, and TV shows One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls.

It wasn’t until this year that he began to pop up again after starring in Netflix’s Mother of the Bride with Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove. The Cut called his return the “second coming of Chad Michael Murray” after his initial rise to fame in his early 20s.

In his interview with Numéro Netherlands earlier this year, Murray said he was choosing his roles more intentionally after the birth of his first child. “I would say, a lot of material, especially over the past five to eight years since my son was born, I choose because I think one of the last things you really want is for your kids to be berated in school for what their parents are doing,” he told the publication. “I don’t want my kids going to school, being freshmen in high school, and Dad’s butt posted all over their locker. That’s not fair to them, so making decisions for that has been great.”

Here’s a recap on what Chad Michael Murray has been up to ahead of Freaky Friday 2:
