Hollywood actress Billie Lourd, daughter of the incomparable Carrie Fisher and talent agent Bryan Lourd, turned 32 last week. And a week before that, she attended the Los Angeles premiere of Watershed, a documentary on American Paralympic medallist Mallory Weggemann that her husband Austen Rydell was an executive producer on.

At the event, the couple shared with People their approach and philosophy on parenting, which right now is “whatever works”, even if that means “cosleeping” with her kids once in a while.

Lourd has other reasons to celebrate, too. Her movie Ticket to Paradise (2022) has proven a smash hit on Netflix, and she was recently cast in Alex Winter’s “modern noir”, Adulthood. She will also be starring in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl alongside Pamela Anderson.

Lourd played a background character named Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix in three Star Wars movies: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Many probably assumed that her mum Carrie Fisher snagged her a role in the franchise, but Lourd won the role entirely on her own mettle by auditioning just like everyone else, she recounted on Today … albeit with no prior acting experience. She didn’t even have an acting resume, and brought her professional resume instead.

Fun fact: the cast and crew didn’t even know she was Fisher’s daughter until she slipped up one day and called her “mum” on set.

The American Horror Story star first met her now husband in 2011 at NYU, per Vogue, but they didn’t start dating until 2016. The pair broke up for a time, but reconnected in 2017 and had their first child, Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell, in 2020, per People. Two years later, they got married and welcomed their second child, Jackson Joanne Lourd Rydell.
