What to know about Mauricio Umansky – and his Hiltons feud: his niece Paris Hilton called him out on Instagram after that Buying Beverly Hills revelation – and he’s separated from wife Kyle Richards
But before his success, Umansky was an employee at Hilton & Hyland, a property brokerage co-founded by his brother-in-law and Paris’s father, Richard Hilton.
So what caused Umansky’s rift with the Hiltons – and why is the decade-old family feud being rehashed now?
From his property millions to bad blood with the Hiltons, here’s what we know about Mauricio Umansky.

Mauricio Umansky’s beef with the Hilton family
Umansky worked for Hilton & Hyland for several years before leaving to launch his own firm, The Agency.
In a teaser for the upcoming season of Buying Beverly Hills – which is set to drop on Netflix tomorrow, on March 22 – Umansky reveals that he was denied partnership in the firm, which led him to split from the group and set out on his own. “So I think I got kind of f***** by Hilton & Hyland,” he says in the clip.
His comment prompted a response from Paris, who came to her father’s defence in a now-deleted comment on an Instagram post: “My father is a consummate gentleman and has always taken the higher road. He would never speak negatively about his family – especially in the press. Frankly, we are all sick of him [Umansky] using the Hilton name every chance he gets to plug his lame show.”
“Look, it’s sad that she got so upset about that, but at the end of the day, it’s two businessmen making two business decisions,” Umansky responded in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Richards is choosing to stay out of the family drama, as per Us Weekly, saying, “I really was just like, ‘No. Please, no more.’ I can’t handle any more things.”
His business success
On his show, Umansky describes The Agency as “the best global real estate company in the world”, which he justified by his claim that he’s sold more US$20 million homes in the US than any other agent.
It’s clear that The Agency has been a major win for the Umanskys, having expanded to over 110 offices in 12 countries around the world, per its website. Its total sales reportedly exceeded US$45 billion in 2022.
Thanks to this success, the family has prospered, accumulating vast wealth, several properties and all the trappings that come with a bulky bank balance.

How does the Umansky family splurge their money?
Fans of either Buying Beverly Hills or RHOBH know that the Umansky family certainly lives it up. From glamorous holidays spent on private yachts in the Mediterranean and driving expensive cars, to playing with the fanciest of toys and wearing the finest high-end fashions, it’s clear the family enjoys the fruits of their labour.
A quick glance at any of the family members’ Instagram pages will show snapshots of the reality stars at glamorous events and in stunning international destinations.
Besides golfing, the family are avid skiers, as seen on Richards’ Instagram, and often head out on biking trips through the mountains, per Bravo TV. For Mauricio’s 50th birthday, Richards gifted The Agency founder a QuietKat e-bike, states the same source.
So what are the Umansky family members worth individually?
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Mauricio’s estimated fortune is around US$100 million. This is primarily off the back of his property success.
Included in the agency’s workforce are two of Umansky’s own family members, whom fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills would immediately recognise as his and Richards’ daughter Alexia, 27, along with his stepdaughter Farrah Aldjufrie. Farrah, 35, is Richards’ eldest daughter from her first marriage to Guraish Aldjufrie, an Indonesian businessman of Dutch/Arabic heritage, according to Bravo TV.
As for Farrah, as one of the agency’s most successful employees, her accumulated personal fortune is reportedly around US$20 million. Finally, Alexia is reportedly worth an estimated US$2 million, per The Cinemaholic.

What properties does the Umansky family own?
Despite being separated, Mauricio and Richards still live together in a sprawling estate in nearby Encino. Richards recently opened up about the situation in an interview in February, saying they “get along” but admitting they hadn’t been at home at the same time in at least a couple of months. Their daughter Alexia moved out in January, while Farrah had already been living elsewhere.
The property was once owned by Motown singer Smokey Robinson, reports Ventura Blvd. The Umanskys’ primary California residence boasts its own gym, pool, cinema room and a putting green, states the same source. The family’s patriarch is an avid golfer and, per Ventura Blvd, is often golfing at the nearby MountainGate Country Club.
Additionally, the Umansky-Richards family has a home in La Quinta, in California’s Coachella Valley, which they reportedly bought for US$2.35 million back in 2014, per Realtor. They also owned a four-bedroom house in Aspen, Colorado, which spanned three storeys and 2,400 sq ft complete with a hot tub and stunning private rooftop deck. Both houses have appeared on Real Housewives – however, the Aspen home was sold in June 2022 for US$7.75 million, per Realtor.

That didn’t mean the family wanted to ditch their favoured winter holiday spot, though – they bought another new Aspen house just a few months later, in August, according to Bravo. Richard declared on her Instagram Stories that she’s “never leaving Aspen”.
Farrah, who was included in The Hollywood Reporter’s list of LA’s top 30 property agents for 2022, owns her own home. She’s shared glimpses of her place with her Instagram followers. The chic digs includes a home gym, pool and guest house, according to Bravo TV.
Mauricio Umansky’s split from Kyle Richards
In July 2023, People reported that Richards and Umansky had separated after 27 years of marriage. Richards, who has been a cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills since season one, married Umansky on January 20, 1996. The pair share three daughters: Alexia, 27, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16.
While the real reason for their split has not been revealed to the public, the news was followed by speculation that Umansky may have had extramarital affairs, as per TMZ.
However, in the finale of the latest The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season, which aired on February 21, a tearful Richards told co-star Erika Girardi that there was no third party involved in the couple’s decision to go their separate ways.
