Not all exes have to end their relationship on a bad note.

Amid the whirlwind of press surrounding Britney Spears’ new memoir The Woman in Me, which came out in October, the pop star’s former relationships have been thrust back into the public eye – and yes, that includes her controversial relationship with Justin Timberlake.

But Brit has also shown fans who she has been able to trust. In her book, she calls Sam Asghari – her soon-to-be-ex-husband – a “gift from God”. However, it’s worth noting that the bombshell book was written months before Spears and Asghari announced their split, so there’s no hint at their reasons for divorcing, according to the Independent.

Either way, Asghari also had positive things to say about his past lover. He told Backgrid that “I’m freaking proud of her” and that her comment “made [him] smile”.

So, where is he today, since the couple’s official separation in July?

Per TMZ in August, the 29-year-old plans to continue his budding career in acting. Although he reportedly wasn’t in the middle of any new projects during the Sag-Aftra strikes, he may be looking for more bookings in the months to come. He was previously featured in romcom Can You Keep a Secret?, Hot Seat, and Special Ops: Lioness, which starred Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman.

“I’m currently high on life, Starbucks, and hope that this strike will be over soon,” he told Interview magazine last month.
