  • The South African-raised princess’ health and relationship with Prince Albert have been hotly discussed in the tabloids over the past few years, and in a biography published in 2022

In January, Princess Charlene of Monaco turned 45, not only signalling a milestone celebration for the royal, but also one of renewed health.

The Zimbabwean-born, South African-raised princess has, over the past few years, been on a tremendous path of recovery after suffering extreme health setbacks back in 2021.

The princess, who was known for her edgy style and gutsy fashion choices, seemed to fade away as her health dipped. But now she’s back – and seems to have overhauled her hair and fashion choices too.

Here’s what you need to know about Princess Charlene’s new look and how far she’s come.

The royal, who usually sports a short platinum blonde look, debuted a softer brown hair colour at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix in late May. She was joined by Prince Albert during the annual motoring event, which was held at the Circuit de Monaco.

She styled her new look in a sleek side-parting, accentuating her cheekbones and offering softer angles to her face. According to The News, she had already flaunted the hairstyle at the Maria Callas Awards dinner two weeks before, but the Grand Prix was her first public appearance.

Since then, Princess Charlene has been spotted sporting the new look on several occasions. She attended events celebrating the centenary of Prince Rainier III’s birth with her children, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, and attended several gala dinners.
