How Hong Kong stylist Faye Tsui took the fashion world by storm: the influencer rocks Prada, Valentino and Fendi at fashion weeks and rubs shoulders with Michelle Yeoh and K-pop star Cha Eun-woo

A true Hongkonger, Faye Tsui was born and raised in the fragrant harbour, but has studied, worked and lived across continents.

Tsui went to Australia for university where she earned a degree in information technology, then came back to Hong Kong to work for famous property mogul Allan Zeman. But she didn’t feel like it was the right career path for her, according to an interview with Hong Kong media. So, after a year, she decided to pursue fashion and took up styling and marketing at Central Saint Martins in London.

Having made the jump to such a different career, the savvy globetrotter seems capable of doing anything she puts her mind to – and this grit and determination is seen in her personal style, too. She’s known as a blogger, content creator and influencer today world, but who knows who she’ll be and where she’ll be headed next?

Bold, sharp and packing quite the punch, we take a look at how she developed her truly unique style, as well as her journey in the fashion world.

Faye Tsui loves a good architectural outfit

Maybe it’s the logical, calculated, organised part of her brain, or maybe it’s her eye for a fabulously well-engineered look. Or maybe it’s both? Whichever it is, her more architectural outfits are spot on and work every time.

Cases in point? Her hello 2023 look featuring a chic, modern, black-and-white Tory Burch dress that’s structured in all the right places. Then there’s her edgy and future-forward two-piece outfit at the Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama launch in Hong Kong.

She’s not into sports … but loves utilitarian looks

Per Hong Kong media, Tsui admitted to being “terrible at any kind of outdoor sport” – but she always has her A-game ready in the fashion arena. Tsui does utilitarian chic so well, such as in this army-green outfit that she styles with New Balance shoes and a Prada moon bag.

This khaki Miu Miu look exemplifies how one should dress for a long day at a fashion week – undeniably chic yet comfortable enough for lots of walking and meetings.

She’s not afraid of colour

Among her colour-charged OOTDs, it’s hard for us to choose a favourite. Tsui has been known to wear a single colour head to toe, or to mix and match bursts of hues in a way that only an expert can pull off. Here, she wears a metallic blue Fendi skirt suit that’s very much of the moment.

She was also shining bright in a yellow Gucci dress during Milan Fashion Week in February this year.

Her hardworking girlboss style

In an another interview with Hong Kong media, Tsui describes herself as “independent and passionate” – two words that also describe her effervescent style.

What could be more commanding of respect and attention than cargo trousers and a crisp, pinstripe shirt? She’s clearly a woman who can do both: leading the pack both career and style-wise.

Red on red … on monochrome

Nothing could be more show-stopping than a full red look, and Tsui sure seems to be a fan of them. She’s also added the colour to monochrome looks, making them anything but boring.

Earlier this year, she was at Milan Fashion Week in black-and-white Gucci save for a red Horsebit 1955 bag as a colour accent – a piece of arm candy loved by K-pop idol IU, too. At the next fashion capital, Tsui was spotted in a patterned Valentino look while attending Paris Fashion Week.

She moves in A-lister circles

She rubs shoulders with the industry’s most stylish stars – Rain, Girls’ Generation’s Kim Hyo-yeon, (G)I-dle’s Minnie, Michelle Yeoh, Astro’s Cha Eun-woo and more.

What could be more validating than dressing the world’s biggest stars? Being seen at the same events as them, of course, celebrated for her own personal style and influence in the world of fashion.
