8 of Fish Liew’s best luxury looks: from the Hong Kong cinema star’s Gucci Love Parade get-up and her gold Prada dress for the A Guilty Conscience premiere, to Versace, Loewe and more

Malaysian-born Hong Kong actress Fish Liew’s love of cinema started at a young age when her father brought back films from his business trips abroad, according to local media.

The actress initially studied film and television when it occurred to her that she belonged in front of the camera, not behind it. So she began taking on small modelling and acting roles in Malaysia until arriving in Hong Kong in 2012 to try her luck in the “Hollywood of the East”.

Despite taking on several gigs, Liew said she initially struggled to make ends meet, as previously reported. But 10 years later, in 2022, she received her first accolade at the Hong Kong Film Awards dressed in head to toe Gucci.

Now that she’s finally living her most glamorous life, we take a look at some of her most luxurious outfits to date.

1. Dazzling in Chopard and Versace

Liew dazzled at the opening of Chopard’s new flagship store in Central, Hong Kong, when she posted photos of the event to her Instagram earlier this year. She wore the Medusa corset midi dress by Versace and enhanced the sultry satin one piece with a silky blue blazer, Chopard’s sapphire-studded wave earrings, and bracelet to match.

2. Pretty in Prada

The actress plays aloof character Victoria Chung in her latest film A Guilty Conscience. Rich and powerful, Victoria always looks chic when she shows up for courtroom drama.

The actress appeared to be channelling her character when she appeared at the film’s premiere in January. Looking luxurious in Prada’s long turtleneck lamé dress, the golden shimmering look was complemented by a white feather coat and Prada’s crystal logo earrings.

3. Statement Bottega Veneta boots

At Elle Hong Kong’s 35th anniversary in November last year, the Anita actress wore a black mini dress with a plunging neckline and jewellery from Tiffany and Co.

But it was her thigh-high Bottega Veneta Canalazzo boots that made the biggest statement on the red carpet. The eggshell blue boots were made with the fashion house’s signature hand woven intrecciato technique, and added a fun pop of colour and texture to an otherwise monochromatic outfit.

4. Her Gucci Love Parade look

The Malaysian actress was nominated for the best supporting actress award at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2022 for not just one, but two films.

And while Liew didn’t win the award for her noir action movie Limbo, she did take home the best supporting actress award for playing Ann Mui in Anita.

For her special night, Liew made her presence known by donning a blazer with exaggerated shoulders that tapered around her waist, and a silk white skirt underneath. The actress accentuated her elegant look with a pair of sheer black gloves and a bold ruby necklace. The outfit was straight off the runway from Gucci’s Love Parade fashion show in 2021.

5. Business on top, casual on bottom for Max Mara

Liew attended the grand opening of Max Mara’s new Hong Kong store alongside actress Gigi Leung and Jennifer Yu as well as Supergirls’ Yanny.

For the event, Liew wore a black turtle neck under her red Max Mara coat with a belt cinching her waist. The actress looked sharp on top, but her choice of bottoms were a more causal pair of red oversized trousers.

6. Looking futuristic in Ferragamo

A glance through Liew’s Instagram posts quickly reveal that she isn’t one to shy away from experimenting with fashion.

In this Ferragamo look, Liew wears a bright green coat and holds a shiny green handbag. The actress’ bold fashion choice was part of Ferragamo’s Future Positive 2021 collection. And while the colour may be the first thing to catch your eye, don’t let it distract you from the fact that her trousers are also daringly transparent!

7. Casual, laid back and Loewe

Liew’s personal style when she isn’t attending events or posing for magazines seems to be more casual and laid back, with the actress usually opting for neutral colours such as black, white or beige.

In one Instagram photo she pulls off an all-white monochrome look while lounging by the sea. She opts for a sun hat, Loewe’s Luna bag and accessorises further with simple gold jewellery and a pair of New Balance trainers.

8. Accessorising a minimalist look with Saint Laurent

We love this minimalist all-black look Liew wore when she posed on a staircase on a day out. The outfit is an adaptation of her earlier all-white outfit. This time she’s donned a long sleeved shirt under a black vest with a pair of black wide-leg trousers. The only accessories are her black headband – a recent fashion favourite among celebrities from Nicola Peltz to Bella Hadid – and a green Saint Laurent Hobo bag.
