Cheer up, Henry Cavill! 11 fired celebrities and public figures, from Cristiano Ronaldo and Johnny Depp, to Gal Gadot and Ezra Miller who lost their DC roles, and even former British PM Boris Johnson

- The new heads of DC Studios are definitely shaking things up, dismissing Superman Henry Cavill and Wonder Woman Gal Gadot – while Armie Hammer was notoriously dropped after shocking claims
- Chris Noth and Fred Savage were accused of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct, while RHOSLC’s Jennie Nguyen and The Mandalorian’s Gina Carano came under fire over offensive social media posts
News broke this week that long-time Superman actor Henry Cavill would not be returning to play the titular lead in the next instalment of the DC superhero franchise.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Cavill explained that his dismissal from the project was the decision of the new heads of DC Films, James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The 39-year-old British star wrote: “I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman.” To add to the awkwardness, Cavill said: “After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, before their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”
Although it seems unthinkable that anyone would fire a leading man of his calibre, Cavill isn’t alone. Here are 11 other celebrities and famous individuals recently ousted from their jobs …
1. Gal Gadot

Another casualty of the shake-up at DC Films, Israeli actress Gal Gadot is also on the hunt for a new role after the third Wonder Woman film was axed by Gunn and Safran.
This comes only days after Gadot tweeted to fans how excited she was to resume the role, writing: “Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you!”
