How did Olivia Newton-John and Patrick McDermott meet?

After Newton-John divorced her first husband, Matt Lattanzi, the singer met cameraman McDermott in 1996, and the couple dated on and off for nine years.

According to Australian reports, McDermott once mentioned on an Australian talk show that she was an “incredible” and “special” human being, adding that if people could be “a little bit like her, the world would be a better place”.
