Who are BTS’ celebrity pals in Hollywood? The K-pop idols hung with Coldplay’s Chris Martin after meeting Joe Biden at the White House, and are close with Lizzo, Halsey and Megan Thee Stallion too
On May 31, BTS made a monumental trip to the White House to promote diversity and decry anti-Asian hate crimes. After giving their speeches and posing with President Joe Biden, who even held up a finger heart with the group, the boys then spent a night out with Coldplay’s Chris Martin and other Hollywood stars.
It’s been several years since BTS formally debuted in the USA, and they frequently make time for their famous friends every time they visit. So who have they met and gotten close to?
Chris Martin and Coldplay
BTS’ friendship with Coldplay started when the K-pop group reached out to Chris Martin to propose a collaboration. While Martin initially thought that “it won’t ever be able to match” given their different styles, according to NME, he eventually wrote My Universe and flew to South Korea to record the song with BTS in person. The documentary of the recording revealed that they bonded over their shared passion for music.

Martin later said to Ellen DeGeneres, “We love them. For something that could have seemed so artificial, it turned out to be one of the most real feelings. We genuinely love those people.”
Most recently, they spent an evening together after BTS’ visit to the White House, per Zoom TV, along with celebrities Dakota Johnson and H.E.R. Fans even noticed that Martin was wearing a set of Jin’s self-designed pyjamas at dinner.

Halsey
Their friendship has only grown stronger since. Aside from releasing the hit song Boy With Luv together in 2019, they frequently hang out and have openly supported each other. In a video for Wired, BTS also shared that they consider Halsey as their “BFF”.
When Halsey had a concert in Seoul, she visited the group at the Hybe office, per Pinkvilla, where they gifted her with custom-made chocolates. In turn, Halsey has defended BTS against a DJ who insulted the group, reported The Independent.
Charlie Puth
BTS’ fandom Army are going crazy about the news of a potential collaboration between BTS and Charlie Puth, as reported on Allkpop – another old friend of the group.
It started in 2017 when Jungkook and Jimin did a cover of Puth and Selena Gomez’s song, We Don’t Talk Anymore. Puth then tweeted his love for the group by saying: “I really like BTS’ music”. In return, BTS’ official Twitter account said, “We really like Charlie Puth’s music.”

Puth has since been calling for a reunion, even sharing with fans via Twitter that he dreamt BTS was going to appear on his song, Left & Right. Jungkook then acknowledged this on Instagram by humming along to one of Puth’s songs.
Lizzo
When BTS attended Harry Styles’ concert in Los Angeles last year, they spent the night beside singer Lizzo. Fans captured videos of them dancing to Styles’ songs together, and Lizzo shared on social media how happy she was to meet V and Jimin, whom she even admitted to crushing on, per Pinkvilla. Jimin later told Access Hollywood that they found Lizzo “attractive and charming”.
Lizzo shared on the Audacy podcast that she had grown close to J-Hope after the concert: “I got J-Hope’s number, so we be texting … He’s a great texter, expressive. He does not leave you on read.”
