Anna Sorokin (aka Anna Delvey) currently faces deportation from the United States back to Europe after years in prison on charges related to scamming the New York social elite out of millions of dollars.

A former boyfriend is said to have introduced her to many of her contacts who helped her climb the social ladder in an effort to start a private member’s club in the Big Apple. So where is the man said to have helped the fake German heiress now?

1. Who is Anna Sorokin’s ex-boyfriend?

In an Instagram post, Sorokin offered to reveal the name of her former flame to the highest bidding media outlet, with bids starting at US$10,000. However the New York Magazine article that exposed much of the scammer’s wrongdoings revealed that he is Hunter Lee Soik, a futurist on the TED talk circuit, whose idea for an app that’s a database for dreams never came to fruition. The publication described him as running around with Sorokin in 2015 and 2016.

2. Is Chase Sikorski based on Hunter Lee Soik?

The character Chase Sikorski in Netflix series Inventing Anna is based on Lee Soik, according to media reports in February, which stated that he’s very well connected in the tech space. A source is quoted as saying he got Sorokin into the scene, always giving her advice about how to climb the ladder.

Just like how Chase did a TED Talk about Wake, Lee Soik had Shadow – an app that would allow users to record dreams and compare and contrast them via a cloud-based system.

Lee Soik was born in South Korea, then got adopted and moved to Wisconsin, US. He moved to California as an adult, but a Fast Company profile from 2014 reported that he lives out of temporarily rented homes in Berlin, San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. The publication said he often finds the homes via Airbnb – and that he wears only black.

Lee Soik has worked as a photographer and a model in the past, even appearing in a Coca Cola commercial. He was a creative consultant on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Watch the Throne” tour and, under his production company, he also collaborated with Stella McCartney and Vans.
