What does Anna Sorokin think of Julia Garner in Netflix’s Inventing Anna? 3 top takeaways from the fake heiress’ interview on Julia Fox’s podcast Forbidden Fruits

- Sorokin, aka Anna Delvey, met Garner who played her in Inventing Anna, defending her accent in the Netflix show and calling her ‘sweet’ on Julia Fox’s Forbidden Fruits podcast
- But Sorokin doesn’t feel the same about Vanity Fair editor Rachel DeLoache Williams, portrayed by Scandal alum Katie Lowes, calling her ‘annoying’

“She came to see me at Albion and she’s a very sweet girl,” Sorokin said, referring to the correctional facility she was housed in for two years after she was convicted in 2019 for a scam during which she pretended to be a German heiress with a US$60 million fortune.
Here are some of the highlights from the interview …
1. Anna Sorokin defended Julia Garner’s portrayal of her accent in the Netflix show

When asked about Garner’s performance in the Netflix hit show, Sorokin explained to Fox and co-host Niki Takesh what it was like to hear an impression of her own distinct accent.
“I asked her to do my accent,” said the 31-year-old, who is currently being held in custody by ICE for overstaying her visa and could be deported to Germany. “And it’s just so weird, you know? Because the way you hear yourself like, your voice is just completely different when you hear yourself on TV.”
When Fox gave Garner “a six out of 10” for her accent in Inventing Anna – because in Fox’s opinion, Garner “did a little too much” with her voice and Sorokin’s accent is “a little more subtle” – Sorokin defended the actor.
“Well, to her defence, I guess she was portraying me from like, 2015, 16, 17,” said Sorokin. “So now, I’ve spent like what? The past four years just in the States. I was surrounded by Americans. So, maybe my accent was different.”
