While cinematic art is celebrated at the 78th Venice Film Festival, fans and the media experience an extra buzz of excitement thanks to the stellar red carpet parade of renowned silver screen stars and A-list celebrities, dressed to the nines and dripping in sparkling gems.

Here’s a recap of some of the most glitzy red carpet looks, radiating glamour with opulent high jewellery and one-of-a-kind fashion.

At the screening of Competencia Oficial, American actress Jessica Chastain accessorised her Zuhaid Murad’s scarlet strapless gown with yellow and white diamond pieces from Chopard’s Haute Joaillerie collection.

The sumptuous necklace is set with 40.72 carats of pear-shaped fancy yellow diamonds and 51.50 carats of pear-shaped white diamonds, with their vivid brilliance further enhanced by 5.07 carats of marquise-cut white diamonds and 2.22 carats of yellow diamonds.

“Understated elegance” might best describe the ephemeral high jewellery and fashion combination achieved by Spanish actress Penélope Cruz, who also graced the red carpet for the Competencia Official premiere.

Cruz, an ambassador of Chanel, donned a simple white one-shoulder tiered dress from the brand’s Cruise 2021-22 collection. She complemented the look with luminous pearl tassel earrings with diamond accents – a variation of the Camelia earrings in Chanel’s High Jewellery Signature Collection, designed by the legendary Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel herself in 1932.

Charismatic actress Zendaya – who has 107 million followers on her Instagram account – commands attention wherever she goes. She was aptly dressed for the premiere of sci-fi adventure film Dune in a custom-made Balmain dress accessorised with a breathtaking necklace from Bulgari’s Magnifica Hypnotic collection.

The brand’s iconic snake design is enlivened with sparkling white diamonds and the seductive green hue of emeralds, including a magnificent 93.83-carat cabochon Colombian emerald in the centre.

Mariacarla Boscono

Top international model Mariacarla Boscono appeared at the premiere of Parallel Mothers, resplendent in a Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture gown and an iconic Cartier art deco necklace, set with diamonds and emeralds and intricately carved details of onyx and rock crystal.

A top model hailing from Italy, Bianca Balti attracted plenty of frenzied snapping when she walked the red carpet on her way to the screening of Parallel Mothers. In a voluminous Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda ball gown, she was also decked out in a magnificent jewellery set from the design duo’s exclusive Alta Gioielleria collection.

The pieces included outsize cross-shaped gold earrings set with brilliant yellow citrine, paired with a necklace mounted with matching citrine.

Kirsten Dunst

The veteran American actress stars in the film The Power of the Dog, a drama about a ranch in rural Montana in the US.

But for her red carpet appearance, Dunst looked ultra-sophisticated in an Armani Prive gown in black. She added a touch of vibrant colour with a pair of sculptural 19th century gold earrings set with citrine from Fred Leighton.

Having shot to international fame with her starring role in the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit, American actress Anya Taylor-Joy appeared at the premiere for the film Last Night in Soho, pairing a Christian Dior custom-made gown with a gemset necklace from Tiffany & Co.’s High Jewellery collection.
