Daniel Craig will give away his fortune … but not to his daughters: the James Bond star has a reported net worth of US$160 million, but why does he find inheritance ‘distasteful’?

- Not unlike Bill and Melinda Gates, or Jeff Bezos’ ex Mackenzie Scott, the No Time to Die actor plans to give most of his millions away to the needy
- Craig is likely to bag another US$25 million from his upcoming Bond film – delayed by Covid-19 – and the sequels to Knives Out
Daniel Craig, best known for playing James Bond in the eponymous film series, rose to international fame with Casino Royale.
And while most know Craig for his relationship with fellow actress Rachel Weisz, with whom he has a young daughter, he was also once married to Fiona Loudon, with whom he also has a daughter – Ella, 29.

However, those who think being the child of a wealthy Hollywood star would guarantee you an easy life of riches would be wrong.

With a reported net worth of around US$160 million and the likelihood that he will bag an additional US$25 million for his as-yet-unreleased Bond flick and the two sequels to Knives Out, you’d think he’d be keen to pass on his wealth to his two daughters. Instead the No Time to Die star recently declared inheritance to be “distasteful”.

Why? Well, it turns out he has a more altruistic plan: to give away his fortune to help others instead.

Craig told Candis magazine: “I don’t want to leave great sums to the next generation. I think inheritance is quite distasteful. My philosophy is get rid of it or give it away before you go,” adding, “Isn’t there an old adage that if you die a rich person, you’ve failed?”
