Guo Jingjing and Kenneth Fok’s surprisingly normal life – Andy Lau and Jackie Chan might have attended the Olympic diving champion and Hong Kong entrepreneur’s lavish wedding, but now the celebrity couple keep a low profile

  • Despite their social standing married life is very down-to-earth and centred around their three kids for the ‘princess of diving’ and her devoted husband

Four-time Olympic gold medallist Guo Jingjing is often called China’s “princess of diving”. Her husband Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, the eldest son of tycoon Timothy Fok, is an entrepreneur, politician and Hong Kong Olympic Committee vice-president.

The fairytale couple first met in 2004, began to date and finally tied the knot in 2012 with a lavish multi-venue wedding attended by celebrities including Hong Kong film icons Andy Lau and Jackie Chan. The marriage might have created an immense media buzz, but despite their high status in society, they’ve kept a humble and low profile throughout their eight-year courtship  and lived a surprisingly everyday existence in the years since.

Guo and Fok have been photographed by media on a number of occasions out purchasing groceries, just like the rest of us. And most surprising to some was not just the sight of them performing everyday chores, but the everyday casual clothes they have both been pictured in. Fok was also seen using environmental friendly bags to carry his purchases, setting a good example for his children.

The humble couple is apparently bringing up their three children – a son and two younger daughters – to treasure the simple things in life. That includes even the meals they prepare: photos on social media reveal nothing luxurious or fancy on their dining table. Even when the family was pictured enjoying a hotpot, it was just regular meatballs, vegetables and prawns in view.
