When you’re Conor McGregor, a trip to Abu Dhabi to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 means chartering a private yacht, sweeping up at the W hotel in a Rolls-Royce – oh, and getting blinged out in diamond-encrusted Jacob & Co. watches worth US$3 million, of course

MMA fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Conor McGregor to the octagon on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi this weekend – and The Notorious is definitely ready. The once-retired UFC champ arrived early, making a lavish entrance befitting the flashiest fighter on earth.

After finishing at a training camp in Dubai, McGregor hired a private yacht to take him to the UAE’s neighbouring emirate, before arriving at the W Abu Dhabi hotel in a Rolls-Royce surrounded by a beefed-up security team.

But what’s a trip to the desert without blinging out with some luxury watches and a snazzy new ride? McGregor, known to have a love for anything with a million-dollar tag, apparently stopped by Jacob & Co., a privately held jewellery and wristwatch retailer, to adorn himself in a diamond extravaganza.

Here’s the lowdown on how McGregor made his Abu Dhabi entrance …

The yacht

“This is the best Conor I’ve seen ever, and I’ve been with him almost a decade now,” McGregor’s manager, Audie Attar, told UAE broadsheet The National.

“The guy doesn’t have to work a day in his life. He made more money this year not fighting ... So to see him hungry to compete, hungry to continue to evolve, hungry to prove all the naysayers wrong and hungry to prove who he really is ... that to me is exciting.”

McGregor, who has spoken before about visualising his fights and his victories, posted pictures of himself on the yacht he hired while en route from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.
