Korean actor Sung Joon tells K-drama fans: Oh, by the way, I got married and had a baby

The star of Flower Band and High Society has been doing military service since December 2018, and will be discharged in July
South Korean actor Sung Joon, who is now doing compulsory military service, revealed on Monday that he is married and has a child.
“Right before enlistment, I met the love of my life and was gearing up to get married,” he said in a handwritten letter disclosed through his agency O& Entertainment. “In the midst of preparation, I learned a baby was on the way.”
The actor, 29, added that he registered the marriage, but could not hold a ceremony as he had to join the army. Sung Joon began his military service in December 2018, and will be discharged in July.
“I recently switched to a reserve status from serving active duty so during off-hours I can stay with my wife, who had to endure everything on her own,” he said. “I want to apologise to you for delivering the news belatedly, but would be more than happy if you give me an understanding.”
O& said the actor’s wife is not a celebrity, but did not provide details.
Sung Joon, whose real name is Bang Sung-joon, was a model before becoming an actor in 2011. He featured in the television series Flower Band (2012) and High Society (2015).
