Who is Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, and why do 20,000 people want to go into space with him?

A reality show, Full Moon Lovers, will be made about Maezawa’s quest to find a single female companion – and possibly a life partner – to travel with him to the moon
Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa is set to star in a “serious matchmaking documentary” reality show Full Moon Lovers, which will chronicle his search for a lifelong partner to travel with him to the moon.
Right now, what’s keeping Maezawa busy is finding the “one” to travel with him into space.
Maezawa, 44, who found fame and fortune through his clothing retail site Zozotown, is seeking a single female companion – and possibly a life partner – to travel with him to the moon. His search led to an overwhelming response with more than 20,000 applications, Reuters reported. Maezawa’s quest will be featured in a documentary that airs on Japanese video streaming website Abema TV.

“I’ve acquired my share of money, social status and fame along the way. But now I’m restarting my life,” Maezawa wrote in the online advertisement. “As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there’s one thing that I think about: Continuing to love one woman”. On his Twitter account, he wrote. “Why not be the ‘first woman’ to travel to the moon?”
The ad listed several qualifications:
Single women aged 20 or over
Bright personality and always positive
Interested in going into space
Enjoys life to the fullest
