‘King of K-pop’ G-Dragon will finally leave the army, after 18 months compulsory military service, on October 26 – but his recent Instagram post suggests zero interest in rejoining T.O.P, Seungri, Daesung and Taeyang in beleaguered boy band BigBang

K-pop fans should be celebrating the news that BigBang’s leader G-Dragon has now confirmed he will finally be out of the army, after 18 months off the stage, with an official discharge date set for October 26.

However it remains a bittersweet moment, as the star born Kwon Ji-yong has cast doubts on whether he will ever rejoin his bandmates in the beloved group, in a recent social media post.

Speculation of a disband was fired after G-Dragon posted on Instagram: “Live for yourself. Let the world turn without you. It’s not the end of the world without you. Don’t take yourself too seriously.”

The 31-year-old began compulsory military service in February 2018, completing the 18 months of active duty required of South Korean males conscripted to the national army.

The future of the beloved BigBang now appears to be in jeopardy, with band member T. O. P also recently announcing he has “no plan to come back” to the band, which was formed back in 2006. The group’s agency YG Entertainment has not made an official announcement on these comments.

Meanwhile Seungri, one of the group’s five members, called it quits in March amid a drug and sex scandal.

BigBang’s two other members, Daesung and Taeyang, are still serving their military service in the army, and will be discharged in November.
