250 fans of environmentalist and leader of the seven-member boy band donate 1,250 trees to RM Forest, which opened in Seoul on Saturday – ahead of star’s 25th birthday

A mini forest of 1,250 trees, which is named after RM, the leader of the K-pop boy band BTS, has opened in Seoul.

The opening ceremony of RM Forest took place at Jamsil Hangang Park on Saturday to help celebrate the South Korean rapper and songwriter's forthcoming 25th birthday on September 12.

Up to 250 fans of RM, whose real name is Kim Nam-joon, donated the trees in support of the musician's commitment to environmental protection and raising awareness of climate change and air pollution.

“We were able to make this happen thanks to the active participation of [RM’s] fans at home and abroad,” HoneyJoonie94, one of RM's long-time fans, who initiated the project, wrote on Twitter after the opening.

“I hope people will take a rest in the forest and breath in the fresh air.”
