After making her breakthrough as a mere 14-year-old, with a cover of Bon Iver’s Skinny Love, the soulful Jasmine van den Bogaerde, aka Birdy, released her third album in March, before she’d even made it out of her teens. Beautiful Lies is a coming-of-age record, her first made up entirely of original songs, and distances the singer-songwriter from the indie-folk covers that made her name. “A lot of the album is about finding light in the dark and overcoming the times when we feel completely lost,” says the Brit, who will make her sold-out Hong Kong debut on July 26, at Kitec, in Kowloon Bay.
