Whiskers N Paws opens first permanent cat-homing station

"We are extremely proud to be launching the cat homing station," says the store's founder, Vada Chung, adding that the new facility is the first of its kind in Hong Kong.
"We have been doing these adoption days in conjunction with Kirsten's Zoo, a non-profit, registered charity that rescues abandoned dogs, cats and other animals in Hong Kong. Given the success of the cat adoption days and the numerous happy stories we have witnessed, we decided that every day should be adoption day at Whiskers N Paws," says Chung.
The launch of the adoption centre is also in response to the poor animal breeding and selling practices that are widespread in Hong Kong.
"At Whiskers N Paws, we love everything about pets, but one thing we don't love about the pet industry is pet shop puppies and kittens. Simply put, we don't think it is right to treat animals as products," Chung says, adding that there are thousands of animals in need of a home, and many of these are being put to sleep because they cannot find one.
"This is why we have had a long-standing history of teaming up with local animal-rescue charities to offer animal-lovers the chance to take home their very own rescue pet."
