I’ve just come back from a caving adventure in Vietnam, and to encourage you all to go on an outdoorsy holiday, I’ve compiled a checklist for trekking, swimming and rock climbing. You don’t want to be the one guy who’s always complaining about their gear, do you? 
 

1. Below the Belt
An adventure trip will take you up against a number of elements, sharp rocks and bloodthirsty bugs. Ditch the hiking shorts and go for workout leggings, as well as lightweight, loose pants to stay covered and dry.

2. Up Top
Breathable workout tops all the way—sleeveless or T-shirt cuts work, but steer clear of baggy tops, as they’re not ideal for swimming or layering. A lightweight rain jacket is also key: rain always seems to appear when you’re setting up camp.

3. Foot Work

4. Pack like a Pro
A rucksack can make or break a trip. Choose one with easily accessible pockets, a water-resistant material, adjustable compression straps—which don’t cut into your hips—and good back ventilation.

5. Odds & Ends
