New Burger Restaurants in Wan Chai
We’ve been witnessing a burger renaissance in Wan Chai over the past few months. From plump patties to upper-crust buns, these burger spots are departing from the usual with classy ingredients and flippin’ delicious combos. Alex Ling and Alice Wan dig in.
Itty Bitty Buns
Sometimes, size doesn’t matter: the bite-sized burgers ($158) at 22 Ships are just as good as their bigger brethren. These little guys come topped with pork, foie gras, a (relatively) huge pickle and an awesome avocado sauce. You can also get a taste of Spanish tapas here—try a plate of 48-month iberico bellota ($138). Round out your meal with light, refreshing sorbets—they come in coconut, mango and lime flavors ($68).

Flippin’ Deluxe
Yes, we know it’s not exactly in Wan Chai—but Café Gray Deluxe is only a short stroll away in neighboring Admiralty. Perched on the 49th floor of the Upper House, it offers panoramic views of the harbor. And, yes, the burgers are as awe-inspiring as the view. While the rest of the menu puts an experimental twist on European classics, the burgers are all about the basics: picture an inch-thick patty, melted Gruyère cheese, a bed of fresh lettuce and a slathering of Chef Kunz’s house-made ketchup for $235—it’s a hotel, so expect sky-high prices to go with that view.
