David Ericsson (left) & Alexis Holm (right)
Friends and fellow Swedes David and Alexis established the hipster-tastic Squarestreet as a studio-slash-store in 2009/10, in which they each created products for their own brands: David for Void watches, and Alexis for Gram shoes. The one-of-a-kind space has grown to include jewelry, leather goods and sunglasses, and these talented designers keep hipsters across town happy with their clean, sleek creations.
What item in the shop best represents Alexis?
D: The sledgehammer. He has a very explosive way of working.
A: Something that wreaks havoc, like a sledgehammer.

D: Something that has to do with organization, like the label-maker.
What was David wearing when you first met?
A: Hopefully something.
D: Probably what I’m wearing now—jeans and a checked shirt.
If Alexis were a film character, who would he be?
D: Thor, from the new film. He’s a retro Scandinavian powerhouse.

What was Alexis’s worst fashion disaster?
A: The high-waisted grey pants that I never wear.
D: There’s a picture of him from when he was 16. It’s the worst fashion mistake: white tie, paisley shirt, pipe and bad [orange] hair.
